Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers

Part of Rutgers University, the Zimmerli Art Museum is one of the most distinguished university-based museums in the nation. It collects, preserves, and houses more than 60,000 objects, ranging from ancient to contemporary art, to prints, photographs and rare books.

Based on its non-profit mission to provide audiences with greater accessibility and to directly experience the visual arts, the museum conceived a strategic plan to increase public awareness, usage and annual patron support for its facilities and programs.

As part of the plan, Desantis Creative was engaged to create a new brand identity for Zimmerli, aligning the look and feel of its communications with those of the museum’s extraordinary offerings and exhibition space.

The newly designed identity graphics were applied to exhibit promotions, displays, brochures, annual reports, fund raising materials, e-books and environmental applications within the facility.

Once linked in the minds of consumers and stakeholders, the now consistent and cohesive image helped Zimmerli attract visitors and new museum memberships in record numbers. Levels of public/private support and earned income also increased significantly.
